Reflections on the 2017-2018 Emerging Leaders Program
On March 22, 2018, LEAP’s Emerging Leaders Program for nonprofit staff concluded in New York, NY. The ELP class, facilitators, coaches, trainers, funders, and LEAP friends celebrated the end of the program with a Graduation Dinner and Ceremony at China Blue. LEAP President and CEO Linda Akutagawa kicked off the dinner with a keynote speech to the ELP class on how to move forward as community leaders after the conclusion of the program. During the dinner, ELP participants shared personal stories about the program experience with the graduation guests, and each participant was presented with a plaque for their completion of the program.
Announcing the 2017-2018 Emerging Leaders Program Participants
The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) is a three-part, six-month program designed to build nonprofit organizational capacity by developing Asian and Pacific Islander (API) staff for future and current leadership and management roles in nonprofit organizations as well as increasing the retention of APIs who are committed to working in the nonprofit sector. The program provides 16 participants each year with an opportunity to receive 80 hours of leadership development training and 6 hours of executive coaching.
Reflections on the 2016-2017 Emerging Leaders Program
On March 30, 2017, LEAP’s Emerging Leaders Program for nonprofit staff concluded in New York City. With a special keynote conversation with Geri Mannion, Program Director, U.S. Democracy and Special Opportunities Fund at the Carnegie Corporation of New York. The seventeen participants of the 2016-2017 Emerging Leaders Program shared personal stories about their experience and received certificates amongst friends, funders, and trainers at China Blue over dinner.

Emerging Leaders Program 2016-2017 Part 1 Success
LEAP kicked off its sixth Emerging Leaders Program (ELP), a selective 6 month, 3-part program supporting and developing mid- to senior-level Asian and Pacific Islander leaders in nonprofit organizations. Selecting 17 exceptional leaders from diverse non-profit organizations across 9 states, LEAP brought together the 2016-2017 cohort in Los Angeles this past November to expand and strengthen their individual leadership skills for Part 1: The Learning Component.
