Emerging Leaders Program 2016-2017 Part 1 Success

LEAP kicked off its sixth Emerging Leaders Program (ELP), a selective 6 month, 3-part program supporting and developing mid- to senior-level Asian and Pacific Islander leaders in nonprofit organizations. Selecting 17 exceptional leaders from diverse non-profit organizations across 9 states, LEAP brought together the 2016-2017 cohort in Los Angeles this past November to expand and strengthen their individual leadership skills for Part 1: The Learning Component.

For 5 full days, participants engaged in workshops and interactive activities and learned, discussed, and built community around a number of foundational skills and topics: personal leadership styles, creating inclusive spaces, financial awareness and budgeting, and how to lead their organization through change to name a few.

By the end of the Part 1, participants had developed and practiced new skills through a team project as well as created incredible community and camaraderie. Below are sample testimonials from participants in closing of Part 1.

“I came in thinking I would gain practical tools and came away with much deeper experiences.”
“I’m glad to have met new people and look forward to building and strengthening relationships.”
“This week has been truly transformative”

With the conclusion of Part 1, participants will work one-on-one with a certified executive coach towards personal and professional leadership goals for the next 6 months for Part 2: Executive Coaching.

Part 3: Renewal will happen in March 2017 in New York City where the cohort will reflect upon their growth and development, reconnect with their colleagues, as well as receive more skill-building, small-group, and action planning sessions. LEAP look forwards to reconnecting with this incredible cohort of emerging leaders!
