Join us for a growth healing experience for API women.

2022 marks 40 years of impact for Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics (LEAP) and driving positive change for the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) communities. This year, in honor of this milestone, LEAP launched a new program, LEAP Connect, aimed to heal our communities through thought provoking and insightful dialogue. The demand for this community resource surpassed all expectations and identified a portion of the audience that needs greater support - Asian and Pacific Islander women.

WIth studies highlighting an increase of 339% in anti-Asian hate related crimes nationwide and nearly 70% of API women reporting being the target of anti-Asian harassment, LEAP felt it was important to take the impact of LEAP Connect another step forward by creating a wellness and leadership retreat designed for API women to grow and heal from traumas related to racially motivated injustices. LEAP will be hosting an exclusive 3-day retreat in Oahu at The Royal Hawaiian Resort Waikiki from September 18-21, 2022, with the intention to provide API women the opportunity to work through trauma, find comfort in community, build new relationships, and develop coping skills needed to continue navigating through these challenging times. Upon conclusion of the retreat, attendees will:

• Have an increased level of self-confidence in being their most authentic self
• Learned new and healthy behaviors to navigate through grief, trauma, and racial inequities
• Feel empowered to advocate for themselves and others in building racial solidarity
• Hold a greater sense of belonging and community
• Have a heightened appreciation for API culture, values, and collective experiences

Each part of the retreat, from the location to the vendors, has been intentionally designed to support the API community and small businesses. The Royal Hawaiian Resort owners, all of our guest speakers and workshop leaders are of Asian or Pacific Islander heritage. Additionally, the choice to hold the retreat in Hawaii was intentional, as it is the only place in the nation that provides a safe mental and physical environment for the API community. Upon arrival in Hawaii, many APIs note their immediate sense of comfort, belonging and physical security from being in a region which is rich in culture and values similar to their own heritages.
