Program Director
Asian Pacific Islander Forward Movement
Scott Chan is the Program Director for Asian Pacific Islander Forward Movement (Forward Movement, formerly known as APIOPA), an organization focused on the diverse and often unaddressed health needs of the API community. Under Mr. Chan’s leadership, Forward Movement has grown to be a premiere voice in advocating for API health and environmental issues in Los Angeles County. Mr. Chan is an alumni of LEAP’s Leadership in Action internship program and former LEAP staff member, Mr. Chan models a new vision of wellness and works to advance innovative programs, legislation and policy to improve access to healthy foods and healthy environments for API communities. Furthermore, Mr. Chan’s commitment to empower and nurture the Forward Movement staff embodies LEAP’s vision to develop leaders who in turn develop others. Biography
Scott currently is the Program Director for Asian Pacific Islander Forward Movement (Forward Movement) where he advances new and innovative programs around access to healthy food and healthy environments for API communities. Under Scott’s leadership, Forward Movement has grown to be a premiere voice in advocating for API health and environmental issues in Los Angeles County. Outside of work, Mr. Chan serves as the co-chair of the Community/Patient Advisory Board for Kaiser’s Research Bank, and is an adjunct instructor on community health for the Master in Public Health program at California State University, Fullerton. Mr. Chan currently holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from California State University, Northridge, and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
